Fusion and Innovation: A Focus on Culture + ”

Embracing the theme “stimulating cultural vitality and leading industrial innovation”, the 11th China Beijing International Cultural & Creative Industry Exposition (ICCIE) will be held in Beijing through October 27 to 30, 2016. As an integral part to this year’s ICCIE which consists of comprehensive events, exhibitions, business promotion & trading, forums & conferences, creative activities and panels, a Plenary Lecture will be held on the morning of October 27 at China People’s Palace.

Around the theme “multi-field fusion and innovative development”, the Plenary Lecture will be composed of guest addresses, keynote speeches and roundtables, etc. Leaders from the Ministry of Culture, the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality are going to be invited to address the Lecture. Keynote speakers are going to include domestic and international noted figures from the cultural and creative industry, such as Carolina Quintana, Officer of Creative Economy & Industries Programme, UNCTAD; Olav Stokkmo, CEO and Secretary General of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO); Luke Kang, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Greater China, Walt Disney; Zuhai Tuo, President and General Manager of Animation Comic Game China Group; and Yu Zhang, President of China Arts and Entertainment Group.

“Innovation is the soul of a nation and the inexhaustible driving force of national prosperity”. To develop cultural and creative industry, we shall hold fast to innovation and fusion. From the perspective of industry, technology and product, “culture +” as is in “culture + technology”, “culture + trade”, “culture + finance” and “culture + tourism” is a novel model based on crossover and fusion across multiple fields. Once taking in the elements of internet, new media and technology, the traditional landscape of single cultural and creative products can be transformed and upgraded into a diversified, modern and high-tech industry. This year’s roundtables will focus on, among others, “integrated development of cultural industry, technology and finance” and “IP era: a new opportunity for cultural and creative parks”.
