The 11th ICCIE Organizing Committee Conference Held in Beijing

On the afternoon of October 13, the 11th China Beijing International Cultural & Creative Industry Exposition (ICCIE) Organizing Committee Conference was held in Beijing. Mr. Shoushan Sun, Deputy Director of the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) and concurrently the Chairman of the ICCIE Organizing Committee; Mr. Wei Li, Member of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and concurrently the Chairman of the ICCIE Organizing Committee; and Mr. Jiangbo Wu, Director of the Cultural Industry Department with the Ministry of Culture attended and addressed the conference. Also present at the conference were Mr. Weifeng Zhu, Director of the SAPPRFT Department of Planning and Development and over 40 heads from the ICCIE co-organizers.

At the conference, Ms. Jiuling Xiong, Executive Deputy Secretary-General and Office Director of the Organizing Committee made a report about the overall plan and preparatory progress of the 11th ICCIE. The leaders of the Organizing Committee fully recognized those efforts and put forth specific requirements.

The solid and effective preparatory efforts for this year’s ICCIE were a result of the great attention of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Beijing Municipal Government as well as the dedication and professionalism of our team, said Mr. Shoushan Sun. According to him, the ICCIE is distinctive in three ways. First, it insists on S&T innovation and industrial integration, and plays a vital role in the development of emerging cultural industries and in the transformation and upgrading of traditional cultural industries. Second, it insists on showcasing the success and latest achievements of the cultural industry all under the same roof, so at to pave a way for the cultural industry to work closely with other sectors. Third, it insists on facilitating the exchange and trade between domestic and overseas cultural and creative industries to help the Chinese culture go global. With increasingly richer contents and broader influences, the ICCIE has become an important platform to pool together cultural and creative resources both at home and abroad, to conduct industrial cooperation and transactions, to gain insight into industrial updates and trends, to lead the industrial momentum, to promote the development of China’s cultural and creative industry, and to intensify exchange and cooperation throughout global cultural and creative communities. The SAPPRFT will continue to support the ICCIE as it always did and encourage extensive engagement by direct subordinates to render rich contents in the “Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television” exhibition area. The SAPPRFT will also coordinate efforts with relevant media and news agencies under the central government to give an effective publicity to the ICCIE.

Mr. Wei Li emphasized that the ICCIE has already grown into a grand cultural event of global influences. To ensure the success of this year’s session, first, we shall implement major national strategies with a grand picture in mind, and reflect the theme of the ICCIE and the special background of our times around five development concepts by building up platforms for cultural exchanges over, among others, “One Belt and One Road” and “coordinated Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei development”. Second, we shall integrate high-end cultural resources and play the role of Beijing as the cultural core of China to gather the great and the good, to drive and spur other regions, to innovate and lead, to display and show, and to offer services. While revealing the charms and characteristics of the Capital, we shall build up a platform where cultural resources, cultural talents, cultural capital and cultural brand elements can converge. Third, we shall concentrate our efforts on innovation, and make ICCIE a great brand that is more market-oriented with distinctive features in exhibition planning, layout and operation as well as in exhibits, projects, forums and exchange fairs.

According to Mr. Jiangbo Wu, this year’s ICCIE will evolve closely around creativity, entrepreneurship, innovation, coordinated Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei development and many other national strategies in theme setting, planning, layout and activity arrangement, so as to create a sound environment for industrial innovation and development and to reflect the leading and exemplary role of Beijing as the national cultural center. The Ministry of Culture will give constant attention and support to the ICCIE, in a bid to make it more professional, international and market-oriented and realize both economic and social benefits.
